Country View Challenges - Things With WIngs

It's my turn over at Country View Crafts Challenges .  I hope you are enjoying the wonderful inspiration from the design team this month. 

For my second project I challenged myself to use scraps and left overs.  Here is my creation....

The background was created by using Distress Oxides. I love these inks and cannot believe how they have become my 'go-to' pads!

I then stamped the Tim Holtz Vines and Roses stamp set using water - this is a great technique - after colouring the background with ink I spritzed the stamp with water and stamped as normal.  After a few minutes it had lifted the colour and created a 'bleached' effect - which I love.

Next I added scraps of Tim Holtz tissue paper.

The oval was a spare that I had in my stash.

The art doll with wings is a very old stamp which I adore (and isn't made anymore).  This was stamped and coloured using alcohol markers, then fussy cut out (yes...really!).  This was added to the oval using foam pads.

To finish I added a few butterflies and a simple greeting.

I really had fun making this and hope you like it.

Paper Artsy - Aqua - 50's Blues!

It's my evening over at the PaperArtsy blog.  The theme is Aqua and so I chose to challenge myself by using only a few colours and creating a male themed project.

I started by covering a canvas board using Caribbean Sea and Captain Peacock Fresco Finish paints.

Next, I experimented with Infusions to see how they mixed with Grunge Paste - and what a happy experiment it was...

The infusions brought only a small amount of the walnut out and kept the gorgeous jaded colour.  I then used this through a PaperArtsy stencil.

I simply love the distressed look of the Infusions - awesome!

The main image was stamped in Archival ink then, once heat set, washed in watered down Caribbean Sea and French Roast.

I then mounted into onto a may that had been coloured and the stamped using Chalk Fresco Finish paint.

To finish I used metal embellishments from my stash.

I really enjoyed this project!  And the fact that it made me challenge myself.

Colourful Collage

I recently purchased lots of the new and amazing Jane Davenport goodies from Country View Crafts.  Here is the first project that I have created with them.....

I started my project by tearing up parts of the 2-ply tissues, after removing one of the ply.

These were then added to the card in a random fashion using matte medium. 

I also covered a stitched oval in the same manner.  I left these to dry over night.

Once dry I added the oval to the card front and drew a scribble border using the paint pens (which are amazing!!).

I chose one of the face rub-ons from the neutral collection as my main image.  This was simply rubbed onto white card, cut around and mounted to the oval.

To finish I added a Tim Holtz sentiment.

A bit Leafy!

I thought I would share with you a page that I have made for a circle journal I am part of.

I started by creating a background using Distress Oxide inks in Walnut Stain and Broken China. I also sprinkled some water to add more texture.

Once this was dry I stencilled a leaf from a PaperArtsy stencil, again using Walnut Stain distress oxide ink.

I chose to use the wonderful leaf stamp from a stamp set by Tracy Weinzapfel.  I stamped one leaf direct to the card and another onto white card.  These were then coloured using alcohol markers.  The separate leaf was cut and mounted to the card.

To finish the page I used this great quote from the same stamp set.

I was really happy with how this turned out......

New Home

A friend of mine is starting a new life in a new home.  Here is the card that I created for her.....

I started by covering a card blank with purple card from my stash and drawing a scribbled border.

The background is from a masterboard that I created a few months ago using PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paints, stamps and Seth Apter stencils.

The house is from the fabulous new Zinksi Art collection from PaperArtsy.  I stamped the house onto Smoothy card using Memento ink and then coloured it using Alcohol markers. 

I then cut the house out and mounted it using foam pads to the card base.

Nice and easy, but a lovely image for the card!

More Tag Art

I've been playing with the new PaperArtsy Sara Naumann stamps again! This time it was to create a tag for my circle journal. 

Here is my tag....

I coloured a tag using Distress Oxide inks and sprinkled it with water.

Next, I used one of the new Sara Naumann stencils which I then outlined in black and white pen.

The collage stamp was added to the right hand side of the tag using black Archival ink.

I wanted the fabulous quote to stand out so stamped it onto a Distress Oxide coloured panel and cut it out individually and mounted onto the tag so that it stood out.

So yes - I cannot stop using these new and amazing stamps and stencils for PaperArtsy by Sara Naumann!

Country View Challenges - Things With Wings

It's that time of the month again when there is a new topic over at Country View Crafts Challenges.This month the theme is 'things with wings'.  Those of you that know me will know how much I love butterflies - so this was a great topic for me!

I chose to make a card for this theme.....

I started by stamping the fabulous Tim Holtz Flutter butterfly stamps.  This set is just perfect for me!  I coloured them using Alcohol markers then die cut them using the matching dies. How wonderful to have a matching dies set - I really don't like fussy cutting!

My next step was to die cut the mosaic Mixed Media die onto white card.

This was added to a card blank that had been covered using yellow background paper.

To finish, I assembled the butterflies onto the card front and added a few gems.

This shows the dimension created on the card....
