Country View Crafts Challenges - Anything But A Card

Happy November!

For the first project of this challenge I chose to make a tag.  I haven't decorated a tag for so long.  I had forgotten how much I enjoy them.

I started off by die cutting a tag from the Tim Holtz tag die.

I then embossed some of the images from the Tim Holtz Spring Shadows stamp set.  I used the emboss resist technique.

I swooshed my tag through wilted violet and worn lipstick distress inks and dried the tag thoroughly.  I simply love the effect of this technique.

I stamped, coloured and fussy cut butterflies from a PaperArtsy Tracy Scott stamp set.

To finish I used a 'happy' die cut and added a few gems.

I simply loved creating this tag and it really made me 'happy'.

Christmas is Coming

Today I want to share more cards that I have created.

Each one of these cards is unique and different but created in the same way.

I started by creating master boards.  I have already show you how I made these in an earlier posts.

To add extra texture I used a sewing machine to add a scrappy border.

The snowmen were stamped, coloured and cut out.  I went around them using a Stabilo All pencil in order to make the snowman stand out on the card.

To finish I added a Tim Holtz Christmas Ribbon.

With the exception of the sewing (because I am not great with a sewing machine) I had great fun creating these and they were super quick.

It's Beginning To Look Alot Like Christmas

Hello again.  Today I am sharing one of the cards that I have designed for Christmas.

Shhhh…….   This one is for Dan.  He should have this by now... but just in case!

The main image is PaperArtsy Zinski ZA33.   This was stamped and coloured using Polychromo pencils.  Once I cut the image out I added Glossy Accents to the eyes and chunky glitter to the bottom of the coat.

Next, I layered Tim Holtz papers which I distressed and then inked using walnut stain distress.

My next step was to start embellishing my card.

I used Tim Holtz tokens and mini lights.

Stars were added for finishing touches.

I really loved how the modern images created by Elena Zinski worked with the more vintage feel of the Tim Holtz papers.

Birthday Celebrations For My Number 1 Man!

It's a very special birthday today.  Not only is it my Dad's birthday, but today, we are celebrating a special birthday.

As it was bank holiday yesterday my family got together to celebrate.... there was even cake!

Here is the card that I made for Dad....

I wanted to keep the card simple but make the image stand out.  The card was covered using Tim Holtz paper (sorry, I can't remember which pad, I think it is Dapper).

The vintage car was stamped using Coffee Archival ink onto Dictionary paper, showing the definition of 'Dad'.  I also cut out 'birthday' and added this above my stamped sentiment, which is from Tim Holtz's Simple Saying set.

To finish, I added a scalloped border and a seam binding ribbon.  I also couldn't resist adding Dad's age!  

So there we have it.....  I am sure Dad will like his card.  I know he loves us all being around him and so yesterday would have meant a lot to all of us.

Country View Challenges - Stencils

Today I am showing you my second project for the Country View Crafts Challenge this month.  You will remember that Gabrielle has chosen the theme of stencils for this month's challenge.

Here is my second project...

I tried to use different techniques in this project and chose to use the amazing new Seth Apter dies.  

I couldn't wait to get my hands on them when Seth announced them, so as soon as Country View Crafts had them in stock, I ordered them and die cut them all as soon as they dropped on my door step!

How awesome are those dies cuts??  Anyway - back to the project at hand!

I used the die-cut from the Strands die as a stencil and covered a card blank with Broken China Distress Oxide ink. I really liked this effect.

I then added drops of water to create splotches on the background.

My next step in this project was to randomly stamp Seth's French Text stamp in Archival Ink.

I also stamped other Seth Apter stamps randomly in Broken China Distress Oxide.  The edges were inked with Walnut Stain.

I re-purposed the die cuts that I used as a stencil and added these to the background.

I then covered the Periscope die cut in Deco Art gilding wax.  

I did the same around the edge of a card mat.

These were then all put together to form the card.

To finish, I used Tim Holtz Metallic Sticker Quotations.

So, there you go.  My second project for the Stencil theme.

More Cards For Men

A few weeks ago another of our car-loving friends celebrated his birthday.  Here is the card that I made for him:

I've had this paper in my stash for a while - I think it's K&Co.  I used it to cover a card blank.

The main image was stamped in Archival ink onto watercolour paper -  I didn't need to use this paper but I really like them as they are a perfect size.  This was then mounted onto larger rectangles and mounted to the centre of the card blank.

I then stamped the sentiment and mounted it to the right corner.

Simple but perfect for a car enthusiast! 

Happy Father's Day

Today is all about Dads- and don't we just love them!!

Here is the card that I made for mine

I used male themed backing papers for the background. 

The main image was stamped in Archival and then I used a rotary stamp to stamp the greeting.

I then sewed (yes! me!) around the edges - it's a good job I wanted a distressed look as I can't sew straight for love nor money!

I liked this image - the umbrella makes me think of how Dad's protect us :)

Journal Swap

It was my turn to create a page for Darcy's journal.  As nervous as I was (Darcy's first page is spectacular) I set out to create my page.

I had an idea in mind and wanted to create an underwater theme.

I created a brayered background using blues and greens (Mermaid; Beach Hut; Blue Skies; Peeled Paint; Guacamole).

I then used a Kasia TCW stencil to create a 3d effect using grunge paste.  This shows some of the texture better

Next I used Kim Dellow and Emma Godfrey stamps to create my sea weed and flowers (this is what they would look like in my world!).

I painted these and highlighted them in white.

The sea horses are die cuts and coloured in coral.  These were added to the page.

I used a little background image to fill in some of the blank space and then added my own doodles in white.

The wording is the title to a poem which I found through Google.

So - that's my page!  Eek! I hope Darcy likes it!!

Better Late Than Never

I thought I would share some more cards that I have made for birthdays over the last couple of months....

 

The first card was for a friend, Becky....

 

I stamped the gorgeous JOFY flowers and coloured them using alcohol markers.  I then die cut them onto a label and attached to a card that i had covered with background papers.  I added a bow and gems to finish.

This next card was for a colleague at work who turned 50.

I covered a card blank with papers from Stampin' Up.  I then cut 2 labels.  One in patterned paper and one in card stock.  I stamped the Stampotique Moustache Monsters (aren't they the cutest).

I made a paper bow using the fabulous Stampin' Up bow punch.  To finish I added a paper scalloped ribbon and some normal ribbon, a button, and of course, a big 50!

 

 

This next card was a friend's little girl, Grace. 

 

I covered a card blank with Lili of the Valleys papers that were free in a magazine.  I die cut a label and stamped this adorable image which I then coloured with alcohol markers.

 

I punched out some flowers and added them to the card with a gem in the middle of each flower. 

This final card was for a colleague in my team at work who turned 21 at the start of May - 21!!  If only! 

I covered a card blank with patterned paper.

I stamped the image onto a label and coloured her in with alcohol markers.

I die cut a photo frame, greeting and numbers and attached these to the card.  I finished with gems.

So..... I have been busy over the last few months!!  I just forgot to blog!!

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014 - March

I can't believe that it's March already!!

I had a go at creating Tim's March tag - although do not have the stamps, spritzer or stencil that he used!  I also created a card as opposed to a tag so that I can use it at some stage in the year.

I really liked the paper smudging technique.  Think I need a bit more practise though!  Thanks for looking.....

Valentine Wishes

A very happy Valentine's Day to you all.

I wanted to share the card that I made for my beloved

I started by colouring a card background using Victorian velvet distress ink.

I then stamped the AMAZING drawn heart background from Simon Says Stamp using fired brick distress ink.

I stencilled onto the background using embossing paste and a stencil.

I then set about die cutting hearts of various types... and just had to include a metal heart too!  

I finished by using metal cogs and a metal greeting.

I also wanted to decorate the inside of the card...

I am sure Dan will love it!

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014 - January

Last year I think I managed to make half of the 12 tags of 2013.

This year I am aiming for all 12...fingers crossed.

I have decided, again, to create cards so that I can use them throughout the year.

A Tim Holtz Fest...Part 2

I had bags of fun making the first batch of cards that I couldn't stop making more!! Here are the second batch that I made:

 

It's amazing how the simple things can re-energise you.  Before these cards I just sat there stroking my beautiful products wishing my mojo would return.  Once I had decided to use only a few products everything came flooding back!!

Let's hope it stays...for a while at least!
