Swaps Using Scraps

A couple of weeks ago I took part in a swap with two friends.  The theme was to use what was in our scrap box.  My scrap box is pretty big and includes all sorts.  I also have lots of re-purposed embellishments so was able to use these, adding a few additional embellishments.

I used two different colour themes.  Here is the first one:

I re-used panels that I had stencilled with Grunge Paste.  I often do these in batches so that I have some dry and to hand when I need them.  Admittedly, these have been in my stash for a while.

I adore how the Infusions look over the Grunge Paste. The burst of colour followed by the walnut pigment never ceases to amaze me - I love them!

The fun but was the embellishments.  I used lots of different types - flowers, metal, wood.  Lots of different textures, hiding things along the way.

The second project had the same layout:

Again, I teamed all sorts of embellishments to create lots of detail.

Great fun!!

So there you have it.  It's amazing what you can create with scraps.  I even used scrap ribbon as hangers.  I had originally planned for these to be cards but they became far too front heavy!

Thanks for joining me today.  Leave a comment and let me know what you think of my swaps.

Thanks for looking......

Country View Crafts Challenges - Black, White and 1 Colour

Today it is my turn to show you another project for the current Country View Crafts Challenge, which is 'Black, White +1 colour'.  After sticking to black and white for my first project I decided to add a splash of colour to my second.

Again, this is a very simple make, and also used new products.

I started by die cutting the smaller tattered butterfly from the new Tim Holtz Sizzix collection. I die cut 8 for this project.   I simply adore these.  I have always had a soft spot for butterflies so fell instantly in love with them.

I die cut 8 butterflies in total to layer them, attaching them with a staple.  I love the layered look.  Though this was not my idea as one of the DT for Tim Holtz showed this in their sample projects for the release.

I used the PaperArtsy Ink & Dog mini splotch stamp for the background.  This must be one of my oldest stamps and I use it a lot.  It is great to use with both ink and paint.  In this instance, I used Archival Vibrant Fuchsia ink.  I love how bright this is, despite the fact I don't tend to lean towards bright!

I mounted my card onto black card and a white card blank.

To finish I stamped a greeting from a PaperArtsy Emma Godfrey mini stamp set.

I really enjoyed making, what is for me, a simple card.  It was great fun.

I hope that you are enjoying the challenge this month.  Don't forget that there is plenty of time to join in and if you link your project to the blog you may be in with a chance of winning a gift voucher to spend in the online shop.

Thanks for joining me today.  Do leave a comment to let me know what you think of my project - they always mean so much to me.

Happy crafting!

Love is in the air.....

Happy Valentine's Day for those of you who celebrate.

For me, I always make a card but that's about it!  Love isn't about one day, it's about showing it all year round.

Here is the card that I made for Dan

The heart is one of the new Tim Holtz Faceted Hearts.  I die cut it using Metallic card  then embossed it using the Foundry 3d embossing folder.  Once embossed, I added black paint, waited a few seconds then wiped it off.  I love this effect.

I even added a few splashes of Koala Fresco acrylic paint to add to the aged look.

I die cut the weathered clock and then used the wrinkle free distress method using Koala and Mulled Wine Fresco acrylic paint.

The card background was a beautiful collage paper from a Stampington magazine some time ago.  I started to layer up my card.

I stamped small hearts using Shadow Grey archival ink.  To finish, I stamped the beautiful quote from the latest PaperArtsy Sara Naumann release.  The quote was stamped and embossed using superfine black embossing powder.

I really enjoyed making this card.  I loved the colour scheme that I chose.

Thanks for joining me today.  Do leave a comment and let me know what you think of my card.

Many thanks
Happy crafting!

A Box Of Delights

This evening I am showing a project over on the PaperArtsy blog.

The theme for this fortnight is 'Mustard'.  I re-purposed a chocolate box to create a lovely trinket box using the amazing new PaperArtsy Sara Naumann Stamps and Stencils.

I started by lightly sanding the box as it was quite glossy and shiny.  I then added a coat of Koala Fresco Acrylic paint

I then stencilled Caramel Fresco Acrylic paint through the leaf stencil.   I only stencilled around the edges of the box as I was covering with decorated panels.

I used a white gel pen to highlight the leaves.

I decorated each of the panels differently using Sara Naumann ESN33 stamps.   I used Caramel, Mustard Pickle and Twilight Fresco Acrylic paints.

I initially edged the panels using Caramel but when I put these next to the box I decided I needed more of a contrast and so edged them in Twilight.

I was really pleased with how my box turned out.  And I loved the colour palette that I chose.

Thank you for joining me this evening.  I hope you like my little box - do leave a blog comment and let me know.

Happy Crafting!

Country View Crafts Challenges - Black & White

How can it be February already!  It does, however, mean that there is a new challenge on the Country View Crafts Challenge blog.

Here is my first project to share with you:

This project was incredibly easy to make but also very exciting because I used lots of the new Tim Holtz Sizzix dies.

The Organic die was die cut in white - it is so beautifully detailed and cut amazingly!

Next, I die cut the new Wildflowers set 1 and set 2 using black card.

I thought that these looked striking on the intricate white background.

This must be one of the easiest cards that I have made, yet so effective!

I hope that I have inspired you to join in with the challenge this month.  You might even be in with a chance of winning a gift voucher to spend in the shop.

Thanks for joining me....Happy crafting!
