Contemporary Retro

Evening,

This evening I am showing a project over on the PaperArtsy blog.  The theme is Retro colours.  After choosing my Retro colour theme of Captain Peacock, Peach Nectar, Mustard Pickle and Grey Fresco Acrylic paints, I wanted to step this up and give the colours a contemporary twist.

I also chose to use the shaving foam technique again as this is a retro classic that has made a come back.  In fact, I used it for a project earlier this year and Tracy Evans also uses this to create some stunning effects.

Here is my project:

I loved making these cards and as a bonus I still have some of the patterned card left to use for another project.

These droplets of colours look amazing in the shaving foam.

In this image you can see how retro the colours look - I love the swirls and marble - along with the anticipation of the design I will 'pull'.

Here are the designs that I 'pulled'.  I was really pleased with these - each of them different to the last.

I was really pleased with how my finished cards turned out.

They really showed that retro colours can be quite on trend.  They still have a certain 'fresh' look to them.  Sara's stamps worked so well with these colours too.

A Bit Of Fun

I created this project a little while ago.  It was great to just play for fun when I was able to steal a few hours for myself.

For this project I used the Stamperia Antonis Tzanidakis range of papers, stamps and stencils.

Unfortunately, I did not take any pics as the project was underway - I was completely lost in a craft bubble.

It was so much fun though and I'm pleased to finally share it with you.

New PaperArtsy Sara Naumann Products

By now you will all know that I absolutely adore Sara Naumann's PaperArtsy products.  So you can imagine how excited I was when I was asked to produce a support post for the new release.

I was even more excited when they dropped through the letter box.  They are amazing.

As soon as I saw them I thought about Autumn and so chose an autumnal colour palette.

Here is my first project:

This was so much fun to make.

I started by brayering a white board with Sage and Buff Fresco Acrylic paints.  I then used my splatter brush to add droplets of Gold.

Next, I stencilled Sage through PS144.  I love this stencil. I can see it will get a lot of use!  I also used one of the stamps to stamp onto the background to add more detail.

I totally fell In love with this leaf.  I stamped it in Gold, Pumpkin Soup, Chutney and Terracotta.  Once dry, I cut each leaf out.  

I wanted the quote to stand out and so stamped it in black.  I then proceeded to arrange the leaves all the way around the quote, finishing with sequins. 

I really love how this turned out and hope it does Sara's new release justice.  They are an amazing release of stamps and stencils.  

To go with this panel, I decided to make a treat bag.

I kept the techniques very plain as I wanted the products to shine through.  I really love this bubble stencil.  I had thought about doodling in each of the circles.

This fern leaf is amazing.  I love ferns.  I adore the simplicity but detailed nature of it.

Country View Crafts Challenges - Dreaming in Blue and Green

Today I am sharing my second project for the Country View Crafts Challenge.

It's a Tim Holtz medley of goodies today!

I started by scraping Blues and Greens Fresco Acrylic paints onto a panel. Next I used a stencil and sponged paint through it, highlighting areas using a white gel pen.


I scrunched up a sheet of paper, dipped it into Gold Fresco acrylic paint and the dabbed the painted and stencilled background.

I die cut the frame using gold metallic card stock.  This was a bit too shiny for me and so I distressed it using Little Black Dress Fresco acrylic paint.

The portrait is from the new Found Relatives Vintage Portraits - I love these!

To finish my panel I went to town with loads of different types of Ideology that I have in my stash.  This was teamed with cogs die cut into metallic card stock.

Country View Crafts Challenges - Blue and Green

Jeez, how can it be July already?!

Today is the new challenge over at Country View Crafts.  The new topic is Blue and Green.  These are probably the colours that I use most in my crafting and so I was very excited.

Here is my first project for the month

I started off my adding torn book pages to a white panel using matte medium.

Once dry, I added Grunge Paste through a stencil, then after drying, applied a coat of Chalk paint.

I applied Mermaid and Peeled Paint Fresco Acrylic paints.  

I added Sleight Blue infusions to add more depth to the background.

The Professor  was stamped onto a very simple Infusions background.

Infusions were also added to the painted Destinations die cut.

To finish I added a quote bar.
